Fact-Checking in the Trump Era
Three journalists at FactCheck.org, a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, will discuss its work fact-checking during the Trump administration and the 2020 election. Eugene Kiely, director of FactCheck.org, will provide a brief overview of the fact-checking organization and its work, and how it went about reporting and writing an award-winning story on President Trump’s exaggerated claims about the tariffs he imposed on imported steel. Jessica McDonald, a science writer, will discuss her work fact-checking the president’s COVID-19 claims, and D’Angelo Gore, a FactCheck.org staff writer, will discuss how the staff fact-checks the political conventions and debates.
