FactCheck.org has been awarded the Webby People’s Voice Award, as voted by the public, as the best news and politics website/mobile site in the 30th Annual Webby Awards.
FactCheck.org, a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, is a nonpartisan, nonprofit fact-checking website that serves as a “consumer advocate” for voters that “aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics.” The site’s SciCheck feature investigates false and misleading scientific claims made by partisans to influence policy.
This year marks the 12th time FactCheck.org has won a public-voting People’s Voice Award at the Webbys, which honor online excellence and are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Science. FactCheck.org also won 10 previous Webby Awards as best politics site as determined by the international academy’s jury.
The other nominees in FactCheck.org’s category are: Reuters, for Syria After Assad; The SLAPP Back Initiative; The Trace; and the Council on Foreign Relations. The jury award in the category was won by The Trace, a digital news site reporting on gun violence.
