Jeffrey S. Morris
Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics
Jeffrey S. Morris serves as the George S. Pepper Professor of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Professor of Biostatistics, as well as Chief of the Division of Biostatistics at the Perelman School of Medicine. His work focuses on creating hybrid ML-AI/statistical tools for extracting knowledge from large-scale biomedical data, with particular emphasis on modeling complex data objects, such as functions, images, and manifolds, through flexible, automated regression approaches. He also develops integrative analytic frameworks that bring together genomic, prote. omic, imaging, and wearable-device data to uncover new biological insights. In addition to advancing methodology, Dr. Morris has a strong applied research program in cancer, including building prognostic indices for hepatocellular carcinoma and helping identify molecular subtypes of colorectal cancer to guide precision therapies. He is also active in public scientific communication, engaging with social media and major media organizations.
