Daniel Langleben is an Associate Professor at the Center for the Studies of Addiction of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and a Distinguished Research Fellow at APPC. Dr. Langleben, who received his M.D. at the Hadassah School of Medicine, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is a board-certified addiction psychiatrist with extensive clinical and research experience using functional brain imaging for translational research in psychiatry and public health, with emphasis on opiate and nicotine dependence, and basic cognitive processes such as attention, motivation and behavioral control. Dr. Langleben, who pioneered fMRI studies of deception, is the PI and co-investigator on several studies using neuroimaging to test the effects of public health communications and psychopharmacological treatments in tobacco and opioid-dependent patients.
