Ariel Hasell received a PhD in communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Broadly, her research focuses on news media, public opinion, and public engagement with politics and science. She has worked on a variety of interdisciplinary projects related to the public understanding of science, including cross-national deliberative forums on fracking, survey experiments on public opinion of climate engineering technologies, and machine learning content analysis of public discussions of science topics on Twitter. Her other research interests are related to how news media use influences various attitudes and behaviors, including information evaluation and motivations to process and share information. She is a Joan Bossert Postdoctoral Fellow in the Science of Science Communication research area.
