Yphtach Lelkes

Yphtach Lelkes is the Michael Delli Carpini Professor of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in Political Science. He is a Carnegie Fellow and was previously a Fellow at the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton University. His work lies at the intersection of political psychology, political communication, public opinion, and computational social science. It examines how information, media, and communication shape political beliefs, attitudes, and behavior, and how those individual-level processes give rise to broader patterns of political conflict and democratic change. Combining experimental and computational approaches, he investigates both how communication shapes public opinion and how contemporary media and political information environments evolve. His work has informed public debates about polarization, media, and democracy and has been published in leading journals in political science, communication, psychology, and the general sciences.
