Chloe Mortenson

Chloe Mortenson (Ph.D., Northwestern) is joining the APPC and LAIC as the Gloria T. and Melvin J. “Jack” Chisum Postdoctoral Fellow. Chloe's dissertation, entitled "Democracy Dies in Silence: How Communication Contextualizes Understanding of Democracy and Democratic Backsliding," utilized a series of conjoint experiments to identify critical gaps between self-reported and revealed democratic preferences that help explain the paradox of high support for democracy amid global democratic decline. She will be working on a range of projects related to LAIC's mission to build a stronger foundation for civics education.
