Staff writer Brea Jones initially came to FactCheck.org as a journalist selected to participate in the first-ever National Association of Black Journalists/Facebook Fact-checking Fellowship program. A Florida International University graduate with a degree in journalism and a minor in social psychology, she started her journalism career in high school and served as editor-in-chief of her high school paper. In college, Jones was the promotions and recruitment director of FIU Student Media, executive producer for the South Florida Media Network show “South Florida Access,” and a Gates Millennium Scholar. Prior to joining FactCheck.org, she wrote articles in the Artburst Arts Journalism Mentorship program.
