Joe Hilgard double-majored in Neuroscience and in Russian Language and Literature at Dartmouth College. His interests include media effects, game addiction, and scientific reform. At the Annenberg Public Policy Center, he hopes to use Bayesian models to understand the weight of evidence readers draw from research communication and how that weight might depend on properties of the reader, communication, and culture. His other interests include navigating the present "crisis of confidence" in social psychological research: the use of meta-analytic tools to detect and adjust for publication bias, the importance of replications in research, and the reward structures in which scientists work and publish.
