The Leonore Annenberg Institute for Civics co-sponsored a debate on Oct. 18 at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia to mark the 20th anniversary of the Temple American Inn of Court. A British team from Gray’s Inn, London, was challenged to an Oxford-style debate on “This House Believes the Declaration of Independence Was an Illegal Document.” APPC staff videotaped the event and interviewed the participants, all of whom are prominent legal scholars.
