The Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania announces openings in the Annenberg Center for Advanced Study in Communication (ACASC) Fellowship Program.
Purpose:
The ACASC fellowship program aims to contribute to the professional training of communication scholars by providing opportunities to work with and publish from the extensive data sets available at APPC. Working with research area directors, fellows will identify relevant research questions that may be addressed by APPC datasets. These include recent large-scale content analyses of media (related to youth and health-risk behavior) and ongoing national surveys (of parents and youth). Fellows have access to the extensive academic resources and training options available through the University. In addition, they are encouraged to develop new professional skills (such as preparing grant proposals or policy briefings) in a mentored, community-oriented environment.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants for this year’s fellowship openings should have expertise in child and adolescent development, a strong statistics background, and a recent Ph.D. (2005-2010). Fellows are expected to reside in the Philadelphia area and must have their Ph.D. in hand by the start of the fellowship.
Total Awards:
Up to three scholars will be selected to begin training during 2010. Fellows receive a one-time moving stipend, a competitive salary, and benefits.
How to apply:
Applications should include a cover letter, a CV, a writing sample, and the names/contact information for three references. Applications should be submitted electronically to the fellowship director, Amy Jordan, at ajordan@asc.upenn.edu. Applications are due by March 1, 2010. The 12-month fellowship runs July 2010 through June 2011.
